2) Write one paragraph about why the south should not have seceded after Lincoln’s election.

Create a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting the views of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas on issues such as slavery, the Dred Scott decision, and national unity.

Just a reminder that from now on Do Nows will not be submitted weekly or bi-weekly. At the beginning of class you are to look at the Do Now on the board and think of an answer. Each day Mr. Amutah will randomly ask a few different students for their responses to the Do Now for credit. You can get either full credit, partial credit, or no credit for your answer. Think of this as part of your participation grade.

In light of this change, Do Nows will no longer be placed on this website each day.

The summary of your Dred Scott project will be due at the end of class tomorrow (4/24) and the rebuttal will be due on Monday (4/27). Typed rebuttals are encouraged. You are to do the following:

            1 – Read the Dred Scott decision.

            2 – Write a summary of the decision (focusing on the reasons for the court’s decision).

            3 – Create a rebuttal (dissenting opinion) that is five paragraphs long.
